Create a magazine cover for Superkids Weekly in Photoshop CS6

CREATE NEW FILE FOR MAGAZINE COVER
  1. In Photoshop, go to File --> New
  2. Under Preset, choose the option called "U.S. Paper" then hit OK
  3. Rename your file as MySuperkidsWeekly

CREATE BACKGROUND
  1. Open up "aerial.jpg" and decide what can be done to improve the image.  The levels and color balance need to be fixed.
  2. To fix the levels, go to Image --> Adjustment --> Levels
  3. Adjust the top right and left sliders (white and black) so that they each touch the base of the "mountain" (histogram)
  4. To fix the color balance, go to Image --> Adjustment --> Color Balance
  5. Adjust the different sliders so that you increase the color in the image
  6. Once you finish the edits to this file, Select All by hitting Control + A then open up your file called MySuperkidsWeekly, then Paste by hitting Control + V
  7. The edited aerial file is much smaller than the new canvas, so we will have to resize it.
  8. Hit Control + T to transform your file larger, and fill your entire canvas.  Make sure to hold down the shift key to constrain your proportions!
  9. You will notice that now you have two layers.  Rename "Layer 1" as "Aerial"
